Aurora
Aurora Aksnes Born June 15 1996 in Stavanger and known professionally as Aurora or, sometimes, stylized as AURORA is an Norwegian music producer and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of bloggers in the music industry and media. Half the World Away, by the Oasis band for John Lewis Christmas advertisements and Nature Boy, by Nat King Cole are two of her most renowned covers. She gained some further recognition through a tweet from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Honor her day. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is the discovery of an attic piano and becoming fascinated with the sounds it could make. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as professional or as a pastime, but to grow. In order to do so she began to write songs that were her own creations. Alongside Bjork as well, she mentions Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had told her that her songs can aid in her gaining popularity, but also help everyone else see their value within the global community and see the potential of her songs, she opted to perform in public. In the age of 6 she began to learn the piano and at nine when she began to write songs. It wasn't until she was 14 when she shared her story with her parents. Aurora was not a goal. She claims that she simply likes to write songs. Music is for her the best way for expressing anything.
